The 12 hour Sporting Rollercoaster...
What a win!
What a game!
What a team of freaking legends!
It was an amazing game this morning in the UEFA Champions League Final. TO come back from 3-0 down at half time to draw level and then win in penalties. Holy crap. It was just unbelievable.
Sure..I had a couple of beers already and it wasn't even 8am! It is something that doesn't happen very often!
The win this morning is the perfect antidote to the way I felt last night after the Blues went down in Origin I. It was a hopeless performance from NSW in the first half, but just like Liverpool this morning, the Blues came back in the second half to draw level.
Some bullshit penalties and a flukey-arse field goal saved the Maroons before Kimmorley threw a 'do or die' pass which will inevitably kill him as Matt Bowen plucked the ball out of the air to score the match-winner. Joey Johns will have to come in for Game II because not only is he the best halfback in the world, he can at least land a goal or two as well if needed.
Thus ends the rollercoaster for now....until Saturday night when the Eels take on the Sharks :)

Specially for the Kman
[Review] Episode III. The Saga is complete....until the TV Series comes out. (Possible Spoilers...but not much that you wouldn't already know)
Could I please quote from Kevin Smith's rapturous review of Revenge of the Sith and say. This movie is simply fucking awesome.
You enter this movie with expectation. It's unavoidable. This is, in all definition, a 'saga', and even though the order may be skewiff, this is the climax. It's the finale to 26 years of a story that began when we were all young. So, I tend to think, if you are older than 26, you would have seen the original series. If not....well....I'll ask something later.
The first thing you have to get past about this movie is that, yes, the technology that you see in Episodes I - III are miles ahead of what they had in IV - VI. "Where were all those cool weapons and ships in the original movies?". Of course they weren't there. Back then they were using little model ships in front of a piece of cardboard.
Now they have visual effects on computers and holy crap if they don't just do the trick. From the opening scenes of a space battle above Coruscant, to the awesome 'bike' that 'General Grievous' rides on later in the flick, the visual experience is something that you have to be blown away by.
In this age of CGI and animation, you tend to get expectations that things should always look real, even though they aren't. Ep III doesn't disappoint in the visual effects side of things at all. You can't fault the battle scenes, or the background traffic of Coruscant, or Yoda.
Ok, speaking of Yoda. If he wasn't an iconic pop culture figure before, he is now. He is awesome. He is getting older, but he can still flip, fight and battle like you've never seen. He provides some of the best moments in this movie and the sight of him clammering on the back of Chewwy is a classic.
It's hard to review this movie with spoilering, because I just want to talk about all the plot points and all the key points in the movie. If you aren't scared of spoilers, definitely read Kevin Smith's review because he is right. This is a dark movie. I'm glad it was rated M, because there is some nasty shit going on here. Shit that you wouldn't expect from Lucas or the franchise in general.
It does make you wonder if he really did hold back in showing what Vader could do in the original trilogy.
As far as acting goes, I think that Ian McDiarmid defiinitely stands out. It is pure genius to bring back the same Emperor that we all grew to hate from 'Jedi'. There is something about his mouth and his facial expressions that are burnt into our brains as he is 'sparking' Luke. And it returns here, and it's freaky. I used to be freaked out by the Emperor when I was young, but I also remember not being able to look away. You can't look away from this movie...
Ewan McGregor is excellent, Samuel L Jackson is his usual cool self, and Hayden Christensen (the new Mark Hamill) goes ok, without being too noticeable.
Look, I'm not going to lie, there is a lot of dialogue in this movie, to go along with the awesome action sequences. And there was a few times where I looked at my watch and wondered when the light sabers would be ripped out.
Lucas tries to pack a lot of stuff into this movie and everything is linked back to 'A New Hope'. Actually I think that he tries to link too many things back and in doing so, the end becomes a little flat. (except for the final scene). The thing is, that although there are a few gaps in the story, we know how this movie ends before it even starts. It makes it a bit hard to really be excited for the conclusion of the movie.
I want to hear what it's like for someone who hasn't seen the original trilogy. Someone who can come in and watch the whole 6 movies from start to finish and not have any idea what is going to happen. (if anyone has found a review from someone like this, I'd be interested)
Well I could go on and on, but basically this is it. This is the movie we expected to see and it doesn't disappoint, even though you may feel a little flat when it finishes.
There was no applause at the end. There was just the finality and the closure of a story that started a long time ago...on a small screen far far away....

Xbox 360 or PS3? Get your bets in...
The Xbox 360 design has been released, and now we wait with baited breath for the announcement of the Playstation 3.
What will it look like??
There are plenty of mockups all over the net, but I like the one below.
First, the new Xbox 360:
And then a possible PS3!
Stay tuned for real pics of the new PS3 very soon!!
Which console do you own??
Moving Van(stone).....or car...?
Ms. Fits has an excellent post with the true transcript of what was said on ABC radio yesterday.
'Slimey' Vanstone was thrown by a comment made in 'jest', but to me was damn funny and got the point across. The ABC is now back-peddling from the comment and has ripped it off the transcript from the website.
Thank jebus for bloggers.

Star Wars Episode III Midnight Screening. Anyone?
Ok, I am struggling here.
I am trying to find someone to go to Episode III with me for the midnight screening at Hoyts Woden on the morning of Thursday the 19th of May.
Anyone at all?
Comment! Email! Bump into me in the street!
Open Letter to Ms. Nature
Dear Mother Nature,
Can we please have some rain now?
Like...it's been nice have sun and that for a little while, but don't you think that you've punished us enough yet?
We've learnt not to water the garden.
We've learnt to have short showers.
We've learnt not to have lush lawns.
We've learnt that we can't take rain for granted.
So that's enough already!
Even cats and dogs would be preferable to nothing at all.
I want to remember what it feels like to have rain on my skin again, and rain on the ground and rain on the roof.
If you rain a lot now, I promise that no-one will complain.
No more will weathermen and women say, "Looks like a lovely weekend with no rain"
They will say, "And look at the lovely weekend we have coming up with showers nonstop!"
We understand that you have taken it away from us for some reason, but please return it because we miss it lots and, well, we sorta need it to survive, along with all those lovely plants and animals that we also share this planet with.
You don't want to harm the harmless little wabbits and koalas do you?
Think about it.

Want a heart attack with that?
Can you believe there is a place in the US selling a 15 pound Burger??
Ok, for all us Aussies who were born after 1970, that is 6.80388555 kilograms. YES. A nearly 7 KILO CHEESEBURGER!!
Top 10 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Eating A 15-Pound Cheeseburger
From May 4th's Letterman:
10. "Does this restaurant have a defibrillator?"
9. "Am I that hungry or should I order the 12-pound cheeseburger?"
8. "Does it come with fries?"
7. "Would it be easier to eat 60 quarter pounders?"
6. "Can I get it on a low-carb bun?"
5. "How expensive is it to be buried in a piano case?"
4. "What am I going to have for dessert?"
3. "Why is everybody looking at me?"
2. "What would Jesus do?"
3. "Why is everybody looking at me?"
2. "What would Jesus do?"
1. "Can I super-size that?"

National significance? Moi?
Something funny arrived in my inbox this arvo.
Actually, it's pretty High-larious!
It was from the National Library Australia - Digital Archiving Section.
Apparently they are enabling the "archiving and provision of long-term access to online Australian publications" and they are asking for permission for "electronic publications of lasting cultural value" to be included.
Something must have stuffed up in their computer, because they have sent this to me. My little tiny meaningless blog? Turn it up!!
I presume, however, that many many other meaningless blogs will get sent the same email over the next few weeks and months.
Mind you, it is pretty cool that somehow, somewhere, my blog has appeared in a search for Australian publications and has been deemed good enough (whatever that scale is!) to be included.
So, until you get your email from the Digital Archiving Section....
Ner-nee ner-nee nerrrrr. :)

A conversation in EB....
Just went browsing through Electronic Boutique earlier today and overheard this conversation by the 2 shop assistants.
Picture one being pimply, red hair and glasses, and the other, tall, skinny and geeky looking.
Well actually they both look geeky looking, but they DO work at EB after all....
Geek No.1 - ...but the Prince in Prince of Persia 2 was so much more likeable than from the first game..
Geek No.2 - Oh come on, you must be joking! The Prince was a generic action hero. He had no substance.
Geek No.1 - I disagree. He was different. He cared about himself instead of others.
Geek No.2 - But what sort of hero cares whether he lives or dies. He should be fighting for others.
Geek No.1 - It's refreshing to see a Prince who's a bit different
Geek No.2 - But not very likeable!
Geek No.1 - Well they've announced Prince of Persia 3, so maybe he'll be different again
Geek No.2 - We can only hope......
We can only hope that these guys get a life at some stage.....

Kate is a 4 letter word
If any of you ever watched Love is a 4 Letter Word when it used to be on the ABC, you would remember the character of Albee played by Kate Beahan.
She was awesome in the role and damn gorgeous to boot.
Yeah, she was in Chopper too, but the hair just didn't do it for her..
She looks great now though....
There's an article about her here that reveals her future Hollywood roles opposite Jodie Foster and...wait for it...Sarah Michelle Gellar (OMG droooooooool)
Bring it on! :)
4 reasons to take the bus.
In the last 16 hours, I have seen 4 road accidents.
1. Last night on the way home just before Commonwealth Avenue Bridge: A Peugeot, into a Laser, into a BMW M3 (ouch)
2. A little later on last night on Southern Cross Drive: A Big black car (yeah, I'm good) and a motorbike horizontal on the road. Ambo, Fireys, lots of Flashing lights. Didn't look good.
3. This morning just behind the bus on Barry Drive: Car pulls out right in front of another. Big sound of metal on metal, and then the sounds of car doors of people checking if they're ok.
4. This morning on Adelaide Avenue: Rear-ender I think. I didn't quite see it as I was travelling the other direction in a BUS.
I think they should start a TV campaign about how you can avoid 100's or 1000's of dollars of damage to your car, by taking the bus. You can also avoid being killed. How many people have ever died inside an Action bus in Canberra?

Keeping the dream alive...
When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
Well Done to the Reds for making the Chamnpions League final!
I'm tired as hell, but it was worth it. What a win!
Bring on AC Milan!!!

My name is Mick and I am an Anti-Dentite.
Yes I am. I am an Anti-Dentite. (see Seinfeld Episode Yada Yada)
I hate dentists. They make bad noises. They have bad breath and even worse jokes. They make you feel numb and yuck and sore and pissed off.
I have not been to a dentist in at LEAST 10 years. Probably more like 13 or 14.
My wisdoms have come up, top and bottom.
I still didn't go.
I have had aches and pains.
I still didn't go
I have had holes.
I still didn't go
I have chipped teeth.
I still didn't go.
Now it's go time. I think my bottom teeth are getting squashed by the fact that my bottom wisdoms have not broken through straight (they are sideways).
I dunno if it's normal or not, but I can see bits of my bottom front teeth through the gums underneath and I am really conscious of it now and wondering if that's what's supposed to happen. It doesn't hurt at all, but I have needed something to force me to get a checkup.
It's going to be nasty. I can tell already.
I want to go in and, like at a mechanic, I want him/her to tell me what the damage is, and then let me assess what they should fix or leave.
I know I have some holes. That's fine, they can fill those.
I know I have chipped teeth. That's fine, just leave them.
But if I need root canal, just let me think about it.....
But it's going to be like a horror story isn't it? They're going to tell what will happen if I DON'T get these things fixed.
But then I can say, well you could have said 10 years ago, "If you leave your teeth for 10 years they will do this", and well, look, they're ok aren't they?
Fuck...I'm kidding myself aren't I?
NOW. Help me please!
I need dentist recommendations.
Does anyone out there know of a GOOD dentist in Canberra. Someone who is friendly, doesn't make stupid drill jokes and whose breath doesn't smell like Anthony Mundines underarm.
I am in dire need. Please help me!!

Ok, so I'm an awards ceremony whore.
Oscars, Globes, Emmy's, Arias, AFI's and the Logies. (NOT the Grammys) Australia's answer to the Emmys is usually pretty piss porr with uncomfortable laughter and weak presenters.
Last night was at about a 7 on the patheticness scale, but could have been less if Eddie 'I'm too boring to be funny' McGuire wasn't a co-host. Andrew 'Give me something meatier than Deal or not Deal' O'Keefe and Adam 'Go you big red fire engine' Hills are actually 2 funny guys. Rove 'I was funnier at 9' McManus is a bit 'meh' nowadays. Personally I think that Andrew Denton should have been hosting the lot, but that's just because I think he's a damn legend.
The frocks were sparkling and revealing. The blokes were tuxed and boring. The grog seemed to be flowing liberally and overall there were no huge surprises.
Winners highlights for me were The Chaser Decides for most outstanding comedy, Love my Way for most outstanding drama and the NRL Footy Show for most Popular Sports program. They always seemed to get screwed by Sam, Eddie and Trevor from the AFL one. I think Reg Reagan may have had something to do with this win....
Although I have yet to actually watch it, I have heard some good reports and am keen to catch it on repeat soon. I just think it's cool that Foxtel got a few nominations and an award this year.
Rove got the big one, which I was a little surprised with as I thought Bec was a shoe-in, but again, 'meh, who really cares?
Another night of my life wasted with an awards show. Will I ever learn???
Full list of winners here.
