Mackenzie Rain Aramburu, first child to Juan and Julie Aramburu, was born at 6:39 in the morning at Evanston Northwestern Hospital on Sunday, August 19th. She weighed 5 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 18.5 inches long. |
We arrived at the hospital at approximately 8 P.M. the previous night. Julie labored naturally, without the aid of painkillers, save a local anesthetic on her arm when an IV was inserted. |
Julie's labor was difficult and often traumatic, but with the help of her husband, Juan, her friend and doula, Nina, and her friend Jen, she persevered. |
Julie pushed for about a half an hour, as she was very interested in finally having the baby out of her body. She was courageous and tough, and Mackenzie popped out a slimy gray little bundle after almost 12 hours of effort.
