Mackenzie Rain Aramburu, first child to Juan and Julie Aramburu, was born at 6:39 in the morning at Evanston Northwestern Hospital on Sunday, August 19th. She weighed 5 pounds, 11 ounces, and was 18.5 inches long.
We arrived at the hospital at approximately 8 P.M. the previous night. Julie labored naturally, without the aid of painkillers, save a local anesthetic on her arm when an IV was inserted.
Julie's labor was difficult and often traumatic, but with the help of her husband, Juan, her friend and doula, Nina, and her friend Jen, she persevered.

Julie pushed for about a half an hour, as she was very interested in finally having the baby out of her body. She was courageous and tough, and Mackenzie popped out a slimy gray little bundle after almost 12 hours of effort.
